Semiotic Analysis - The Kerrang - Double Page
→This Double Spread looks more interesting and more creative - by looking at it, we can tell that this is very intriguing to readers as it has a pop of colour which is different to the double spread from The Wire, which is more minimalistic and very aesthetically pleasing to the eye
→The photo itself is seen to be very important as it takes up 40% of the double spread; it is very large on the double spread which tells the reader that this person is important to this edition
→The photograph is seen to be very casual as he is not in fancy clothes, he is wearing casual clothes and does give a direct mode of address; again intrigues the reader as it feels like he is directly looking at you; captivates the reader.
→Unlike The Wire double spread, it has a lot of colour, the background is a rich grey colour again, it is different but it is more interesting and different from other magazine double spreads
→There are white dots around the border of the magazine double spread; almost as if the double spread has a spotlight illusion and makes the reader want to look at the double page and to pay attention to the double spread
→The man makes direct mode of address with the reader which is the opposite of the photograph in The Wire as in that magazine spread, the man gives an indirect mode of address and we cannot see the man's face
→There is a lot of text on the page but compared to The Wire, there is a lot less; the main part of the text that intrigues the reader is the main heading which is a question
→This information itself tells the reader that this is a interview with David Havok; again this is important as it clearly tells the reader what they will receive during the magazine; which is where he gets asked a range of questions which also involves the death of the rockstar
→The right hand side of the double spread where there is a text; the questions that have been forward to him is highlighted in white, which is again clear for the reader to distinguish from his answers and questions that were put to him
→The heading also grabs the reader's attention as it takes up a 1/4 of the top right hand side.
→The double spread is considered and put together very well; the photograph and the text are linked together with the black on his top and the black behind the heading
→Overall, this magazine is more interesting and creative; it adds elements of excitement and colour.
→As the audience, we are clear as to what is happening throughout the double page spread which is useful for the readers
